Beijing, August 4 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of Water Resources of China stated on Tuesday that it maintains a Level 4 emergency response to floods in Sichuan Province and the centrally administered city of Chongqing /Southwest China/, as well as in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces /Northwest China/, and Heilongjiang Province /Northeast China/.
From 8:00 Monday to 8:00 Tuesday, due to heavy rains and water inflow from the upper reaches, the water level in 19 rivers across the country exceeded the danger mark, with the maximum exceedance being 0.35 meters.
Based on rainfall forecasts, the ministry has sent warnings about the impending danger to 14 provincial-level regions, including Henan and Hubei provinces /Central China/, calling for enhanced safety measures in reservoir operations, as well as actions to prevent flooding on small and medium rivers and natural disasters related to mountain torrents.
