Chengdu, August 3 /Xinhua/ — Movement of train number 31 departing from Chengdu city /the administrative center of Sichuan Province, Southwest China/, or stopping there, will be temporarily suspended on Monday due to heavy rainfall, the Chengdu branch of the state corporation “China Railway” /CR/ reported on Sunday evening.
Disruptions will affect some trains heading to destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, as well as several other cities in the north, northwest, and southwest of China, a representative of the Chengdu branch of China Railway stated.
This measure was taken due to the heavy precipitation expected from Sunday to Tuesday in some areas of Sichuan and Guizhou provinces and the centrally administered city of Chongqing in southwest China.
In the midst of the summer tourist season, the measure to suspend train traffic may be changed depending on actual conditions.
