On August 4, 2026, the Bank of Russia issues commemorative silver coins with a denomination of 2 rubles from the “Red Book” series:

– “Caucasian forest cat;

– “Point gag”;

– “Eared roundhead”.

The Bank of Russia started issuing this series of coins, dedicated to representatives of flora and fauna protected by the state, in 1992. Currently, it includes 82 coins.

Silver coins with a denomination of 2 rubles (precious metal content in purity – 15.55 g, alloy fineness – 925) are circular in shape with a diameter of 33.0 mm.

On both the obverse and reverse sides of the coins, there is a raised rim along the circumference.

The obverse side of the coins features a relief image of the State Emblem of the Russian Federation, with inscriptions: “RUSSIAN FEDERATION,” “BANK OF RUSSIA,” the coin denomination “2 RUBLES,” the year of issue “2026,” designation of the metal according to D.I. Mendeleev’s Periodic Table of Elements, alloy fineness, trademark of the Saint Petersburg Mint, and the mass of precious metal in purity.

On the reverse side:

– coins “Caucasian Forest Cat” (catalog number 5110-0197) feature a relief and colored image of a Caucasian forest cat standing on stones against a background of foliage depicted using laser matting technique; at the bottom left along the circumference – the inscription “CAUCASIAN FOREST CAT”;

– the “Spectacled Eider” coins (catalog number 5110-0198) feature a relief and colored image of a male spectacled eider standing on the ground against a laser-matted depiction of a water surface; at the top left along the circumference – the inscription “SPECTACLED EIDER”;

– coins “Eared Roundhead” (catalog number 5110-0199) feature a relief and colored image of an eared roundhead against a background of sand depicted using laser matting technique; at the top right around the circumference – the inscription “EARED ROUNDHEAD”.

The edge of the coins is reeded.

The coins are minted in ‘proof’ quality.

The coin mintage is 5,000 pieces each.

The issued coins are legal tender in the territory of the Russian Federation and must be accepted at face value for all types of payments without restrictions.
