Beijing, August 3 /Xinhua/ — China’s gross marine product for the first half of this year reached 5.5 trillion yuan /around 810.09 billion USD/, showing an increase of 5.1 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data released on Monday by China’s Ministry of Natural Resources.
According to statistics, the specified amount accounted for 7.9 percent of the country’s gross domestic product. At the same time, the maritime economy shows steady growth and has a positive development trend.
As stated by the official representative of the ministry, Meng Qinglei, since the beginning of this year, the supply of marine resources nationwide has remained stable, laying a solid foundation for the development of the marine economy.
From January to June of this year, China’s shipbuilding industry maintained high growth rates. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of new shipbuilding orders, the number of completed deliveries, and the volume of orders on hand increased by 105.2%, 34.8%, and 37.1%, respectively.
