Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev participated in a video conference meeting of JSC “Russian Railways”, timed to the upcoming Railway Worker’s Day, and presented state awards to distinguished employees of the company.
In his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that today railway transport is addressing important state tasks. By order of the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, a landmark project for the transport sector is being implemented – the first high-speed line Moscow – Saint Petersburg. The modernization of the historic transport artery towards Siberia and the Far East – the Eastern railway polygon – is ongoing. Transportation along international transport corridors is successfully developing.
The company “RZD” pays special attention to improving the quality of passenger transportation. Last year, more than 1.3 billion passengers were transported – an absolute record in 19 years.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to all workers and veterans of the industry for their dedication to their work. “All these achievements are the result of your daily efforts. In challenging conditions for the industry, you ensure the reliable operation of the railways. You create new opportunities for economic development and improving people’s quality of life,” noted Vitaly Savelyev.
