With the support of the NSU Startup Studio, students of Novosibirsk State University became winners of the “Student Startup” contest with their project “Document Builder” — an intelligent platform for preparing legal documents using artificial intelligence technologies.
At the first stage, the team is developing a service focused on consumer disputes. It will allow citizens to independently prepare legally correct documents, significantly lowering the barrier to access to legal protection. According to the project team, the technology will be useful not only to citizens but also to lawyers, enabling automation of the preparation of standard documents and reducing the time spent on routine tasks.
The project team consists of three people. The person responsible for the legal logic of the service, the structure of documents, selection of the regulatory framework, and analysis of judicial practice is Akmaljon Bazarbaev — a graduate of NSU, a practicing lawyer with over two years of experience in the field of civil law disputes. Oversees product strategy, target audience research, user scenario design, and coordination of interaction between the legal and technical parts of the project Elizaveta Kuzmicheva — a 4th-year student at the Faculty of Economics of NSU, majoring in “Jurisprudence.” Responsible for the technical implementation is Alexey Borzikov — a graduate of the Faculty of Information Technology at NSU, a developer with more than five years of experience, responsible for service architecture, software development, and integration of artificial intelligence technologies.
The team paid special attention to researching the needs of future users. Before starting development, more than 150 interviews were conducted with people who regularly face difficulties in obtaining qualified legal assistance. The study showed that the problem of access to legal help is especially acute among citizens. In many cases, people refuse to defend their rights because the cost of legal assistance exceeds the amount of the potential dispute, and the lack of specialized legal knowledge complicates the independent preparation of documents and appeals to competent authorities.
— For us, it was important to first make sure that we were indeed working on a solution in demand. Therefore, development was preceded by research: we studied existing solutions, conducted interviews, and only after that did we begin designing the product, — explained Elizaveta Kuzmicheva.
According to the project team, the development has the potential both as a mass B2C service for citizens and as a B2B solution for law firms and corporate legal departments that need to automate the preparation of standard documents, reduce specialists’ time expenditures, and increase the efficiency of legal processes.
The team expects that the “Document Constructor” will become an effective tool for reducing barriers to legal protection for a wide range of citizens and will simultaneously help the legal business improve operational efficiency. In the future, the project may contribute to increasing the accessibility of legal aid and simplifying the protection of citizens’ rights.
