On July 28, Russia celebrates the professional holiday of the masters of meanings, word gurus, and architects of meanings – public relations specialists.
These people know why reputation is more valuable than money, why investing in brand building is important, and have a plan for any crisis situation. Their nerves are thicker than rope, hot coffee flows instead of blood, and even the Cheshire Cat would envy their smile.
The official significance of the PR specialist profession was recognized only in 2003, when it was included in the All-Russian Classifier of Occupations of Workers, Positions of Employees, and Tariff Categories. Already the following year, the professional community celebrated this date for the first time as their holiday and conducted large-scale campaigns to once again draw attention to both the profession and their companies.
While marketers sell products here and now, focusing attention on the present day, public relations specialists look to the future and play the long game, step by step building long-term trust in the brand and shaping the companies’ reputation.
The State University of Management congratulates everyone involved on their professional holiday, with especially warm wishes sent to the staff of the “Advertising and Public Relations” department, its students and alumni, and, of course, the most efficient and positive press service of SUM!
