Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev presented state and departmental awards to representatives of the transport industry. Among them were the Order of Honour, the Order of Friendship, medals of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” II class, honorary titles “Honored Worker of Transport of the Russian Federation,” and others.
The ceremony took place on the eve of Railway Worker’s Day. Addressing the awardees, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that railways have been and remain the backbone of Russia’s transport framework. They account for 82% of freight turnover and about 28% of passenger turnover of the entire transport system in the country.
Today, railway transport is tackling large-scale tasks. The construction of the first high-speed railway line in Russia, Moscow – Saint Petersburg, is underway. The modernization of key railways and international transport corridors continues.
“All these results and large-scale plans rely primarily on the professionalism of people. Special words of gratitude go to the industry veterans. Your work and experience have laid a solid foundation for the current development of Russian railways,” emphasized Vitaly Savelyev.
