The summer internship for 3rd-year students (specialization 08.03.01 “Construction”) has been completed on the territory of the Kizhi museum-reserve.

The students had an intensive practical program: they carried out a set of tasks to survey the wooden smithy of Kornilov in the village of Yamka, measured the structural elements of the wooden building, recorded wood defects in structural elements with documentation of their locations. Based on the measurements and documentation, the interns developed a three-dimensional mathematical model of the church, the visualization of which was presented to the management of the museum-reserve.

Students were also given a unique opportunity to participate in master classes led by the head of the cultural heritage preservation service of the Kizhi State Open-Air Museum and Reserve Mikhail Terebov and attend tours led by the chief methodologist of the Kizhi Museum-Reserve Anna Isakova.

“During the practical training, we became acquainted with buildings from the 15th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Thus, we had the opportunity to touch eternity. This touch made us not only technically more competent but also spiritually purer,” shared the student intern. Dmitry Poletaev.
