Minsk, July 24 /Xinhua/ — In Belarus, inflation for the first half of 2026 amounted to 2.9%, which is a historic low for the past 20 years. This was stated on Thursday by Irina Ivanovskaya, Head of the Analytical Department of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) of Belarus. “As of the first half of 2026, price stability has been ensured in the consumer market of Belarus. The growth of the consumer price index in June 2026 compared to December 2025 amounted to 2.9 percent. That is, on average across the country, prices increased by 2.9 percent over six months, which is a historic minimum for this time period in the last 20 years,” reported I. Ivanovskaya.
Food products in Belarus as a whole increased in price by 1.8% in the first half of this year, non-food products by 1.5%. The main driver of inflation for the six months of 2026 was services, which rose in price by 6.7%.
