Graduates of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of SPbGASU won six prize places at the competition of the Association of Construction Universities

The Association of Construction Universities (ACU) summarized the results of the annual competition for final qualifying works defended in 2025. The competition brings together the best projects and research of graduates from specialized universities in Russia, and its results serve as confirmation of the high level of training of young specialists. According to the competition results, graduates of the Faculty of Construction of SPbGASU won six prize places: four first, one second, and one third.

The winners of the competition are:

  • in the category “Geotechnics. Bachelor. Project” — Ilya Kulyashov (scientific supervisor — associate professor of the Department of Geotechnics, Candidate of Technical Sciences Vyacheslav Polunin);

  • in the category “Geotechnics. Master’s. Research work” — Anastasia Myasnikova (scientific advisor — associate professor of the geotechnics department, candidate of technical sciences Andrey Boyarintsev);

  • in the category “Industrial and Civil Construction. Master. Research Work” — Ivan Kudryavtsev (scientific supervisor — professor of the Department of Metal and Wooden Structures, Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexander Chernykh);

  • in the category “Technology and Organization of Construction. Master’s. Project” — Ksenia Karen;

  • in the category “Technology and Organization of Construction. Bachelor. Diploma,” the second place was taken by Andrey Naumov. His academic advisor is a senior lecturer of the Department of Construction Organization, deputy dean of the Faculty of Construction for educational work Anna Tsarenko.

The student presented a project for the construction of a 15-story hotel. In the work, the author analyzed various design solutions and chose the optimal one that ensures a reduction in construction time while meeting quality, safety, and economic efficiency requirements.

The project development was carried out entirely using domestic software such as NanoCAD, Lira SAPR, Sapphire 3D, Plan R, 7d modeler, and others. As a result, a 4D model of the construction process was created, combining three-dimensional design with a temporal dimension. This method allowed not only visualization of the object in space but also tracking the dynamics of its creation at all stages of the life cycle – from concept to operation.

  • In the category “Technology and Organization of Construction. Master’s. Research Work,” third place was awarded to a graduate of the master’s program of the Department of Construction Technology. Elizaveta Khrapylina. The scientific supervisor of the work was the head of the Department of Construction Production Technology, Doctor of Technical Sciences Anton Gaido.

The competition committee highly appreciated Elizaveta’s final qualifying work “Technological schemes for moving buildings and structures”.

In the study, the master’s student analyzed existing building and structure relocation technologies — from traditional methods using rollers and rails to modern solutions employing walking hydraulic movers. Based on a techno-economic analysis, practical recommendations were developed for selecting optimal technological schemes considering the building type, engineering-geological conditions, and construction site characteristics.

Congratulations to the graduates of the Faculty of Construction and their academic advisors on their well-deserved awards! The solemn award ceremony for the winners and prize-winners of the competition will take place in October.
