Washington, July 22 /Xinhua/ — The Pentagon confirmed on Tuesday the death of an American soldier who had been listed as missing in action following Iran’s Friday attack on the American airbase in Jordan. The total number of killed American military personnel has risen to three.
The deceased soldier is 28-year-old Sergeant Angel S. Rampersad from Ozone Park, New York. He is believed to have died during combat operations on Friday, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Defense.
Earlier, the Pentagon reported that two more American service members were killed as a result of the attack. Another American soldier died on Sunday in northern Iraq during a “controlled detonation” of a downed Iranian drone, the United States Central Command said.
According to the Pentagon, the number of American military personnel killed as a result of Iranian attacks in the past two weeks has risen to nearly 100.
