The regional stage of the 8th National Corporate Museum Award was held in the cities of Murmansk and Kirovsk. More than 70 specialists from ten regions of the Northwestern Federal District participated in the competition. They presented 47 projects dedicated to the development of corporate museums, the preservation of historical heritage, and the implementation of modern museum technologies.
As a result of the competition, the project of the SPbPU History Museum “Ignite Knowledge” was awarded a III degree diploma in the category “Museum Internet Project and Multimedia Project.” Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University was represented at the regional stage by the specialist of the SPbPU History Museum Evgenia Lyzlova and Deputy Director Maria Vitko.
The project “Ignite Knowledge,” implemented with the support of “Rosmolodezh.Grants,” is organically integrated into the freshman adaptation program. Its goal is to acquaint new students with the history of Polytechnic University and its traditions, the names of prominent scientists, and the architectural appearance of the campus, thereby helping young people feel like an integral part of the university community from the first months of their studies. The competition serves as a logical continuation of the excursion program of the SPbPU History Museum: after viewing the exhibition, participants immerse themselves in the study of the university’s past in an engaging interactive format.
In a special mini-application integrated into the messenger, students are offered daily tasks related to the university’s history, museum exhibits, iconic campus spots, and the stories of renowned polytechnic alumni. Points are awarded for correct answers and completed tasks, automatically forming the overall participant rankings. The gamified approach awakens a lively interest in the university’s history among students, encourages them to seek additional information, and develops research skills. Upon the contest’s completion, the ranking leaders receive commemorative prizes, and all participants gain new knowledge about the Polytechnic and its traditions.
“We wanted to make the introduction to the history of Polytech interesting and relatable to modern students. It is gratifying that our project received high praise from the professional community and confirmed its demand.” — noted Maria Vitko, Deputy Director of the SPbPU History Museum.
The competition has become an important link in the systematic activities of the museum aimed at preserving the university’s historical heritage and involving students in its cultural life. In the 2025/2026 academic year, the SPbPU History Museum welcomed 11,880 visitors and conducted 588 tours for students, schoolchildren, residents, and guests of Saint Petersburg. The museum staff paid special attention to working with freshmen: more than 3,700 students visited the museum as part of the adaptation program, and about 1,000 people participated in the “Light Up Knowledge” competition. Thanks to the digital format, the project made getting acquainted with the university’s history more engaging and accessible, and publications about the competition on the official information resources of SPbPU, the museum, and student organizations garnered over 91,000 views.
Receiving the III degree diploma was a recognition of the consistent and multifaceted work of the SPbPU History Museum in developing modern educational projects. For the Polytechnic, this award confirms the effectiveness of an approach that combines the preservation of the university’s historical heritage, digital technologies, and new formats of working with students, helping freshmen adapt faster to the university environment and become part of the polytechnic community.
