Doha, July 19 /Xinhua/ — The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held talks in Doha on Sunday with the visiting Prime Minister of Iraq, Ali Al-Zaydi. The parties called for the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the USA and Iran.
According to a statement from the office of the Emir of Qatar, “Amiri Diwan,” the parties called on all involved states to remain committed to dialogue and to fulfill the agreements stipulated in the memorandum.
They pointed out the need to ensure the free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz and to protect security and stability in the region.
As noted in the statement, the interlocutors also reviewed the dynamics of bilateral relations and discussed ways to expand cooperation in various areas.
In mid-June, the USA and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding, under which they were to conduct negotiations within 60 days with the aim of reaching a final agreement.
