Beijing, July 19 /Xinhua/ — A service consumption festival has started in China, which is a market-oriented initiative led by the China International Electronic Commerce Center aimed at boosting service consumption during the summer and autumn periods.

The festival dedicated to the main theme “Quality services for a better life” mainly takes place in the summer months, in July and August, and also extends into the traditional peak shopping season in September and October.

A number of major platforms for providing household services are participating in the event, including JD.com, Meituan, Trip.com Group, Damai, WeChat, Alipay, and Douyin.

Platforms will use digital and intelligent technologies to conduct promotional campaigns that will benefit consumers in key service sectors, including public catering, accommodation services, housekeeping, transportation, automotive maintenance, cultural events, tourism and leisure, healthcare, as well as services for inbound consumption.

The goal of the festival is to optimize resource allocation and precisely match supply and demand, with special attention to family travelers, elderly people, and young children, as well as inbound tourists. Additionally, the event will strengthen the promotion of premium-class cultural and tourism resources abroad, improve recommendations for inbound consumption services, and enhance payment convenience for foreign visitors.

This initiative is aimed at integrating online and offline consumption scenarios, promoting cross-sector integration in the service industry, improving service quality by expanding the capabilities of digital technologies, and strengthening standardization and normalization of the industry. -0-
