Tbilisi, July 18 /Xinhua/ — The third 12-kilometer section of the Samtredia-Grigoleti highway in Georgia, which is an important part of the East-West international expressway, was fully opened to traffic on Saturday.
At the opening ceremony, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze noted that the development of the high-speed highway network remains one of the priority areas of the state infrastructure policy. Currently, 389 km of high-speed roads have been built and put into operation in the country, and about 60 km more are at various stages of construction.
The first six-kilometer section of the highway was opened to traffic at the end of 2025. After the completion of the current phase, the total length of the highway sections open to traffic reached 42.5 km. The remaining section, 9.5 km long, is planned to be completed in 2027. –0–
