Almaty, July 17 /Xinhua/ — The Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan has signed an order to impose a six-month ban on the import of wheat into the territory of the republic. This was reported on Friday by the Kazinform news agency.
The order, which comes into effect on July 27, introduces restrictions on the import of wheat into the territory of Kazakhstan from third countries and from the Eurasian Economic Union /EAEU/ countries by road, water, and rail transport.
An exception is made for the import of wheat by rail transport to poultry farming and grain processing enterprises, licensed elevators, and the national grain market operator “Food Contract Corporation,” according to the document.
The document specifies that wheat imported for poultry and grain processing enterprises is not subject to sale on domestic and foreign markets.
In addition, the restrictions do not apply to wheat imported into the country under railway transit transportation, as well as to its movement from the territory of one EAEU member state to the territory of another member state through the territory of Kazakhstan. –0–
