Among such projects is the northern bypass of Tver. The section, more than 62 km long, which the President opened two years ago, became the final stage of the construction of the M-11 ‘Neva’ highway from Moscow to Saint Petersburg and ensured continuous traffic without any traffic lights along the entire route. In addition, thanks to it, high-speed movement without a single traffic light is now ensured from Saint Petersburg to Sevastopol, as well as Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk. Since its opening, over 7.3 million passages have been recorded on the bypass,” said Marat Khusnullin.
Every year along the entire M-11 “Neva” route, an increase in average daily traffic intensity is observed from the end of April, ahead of the May holidays and the start of the vacation season. As a key element of the road between the two capitals, the northern bypass of Tver is popular among motorists. Since the beginning of this year, the average daily traffic intensity on it has increased by 3% compared to last year.
According to the Chairman of the Board of the state company “Avtodor,” Vyacheslav Petushenko, with the opening of the northern bypass of Tver, motorists now have the opportunity to travel the entire route from Moscow to Saint Petersburg on a comfortable high-speed road.
“Traditionally, the peak days in traffic intensity occur during the summer period. Already in the last days of June this year, certain sections of the northern bypass of Tver recorded an average of about 19 thousand passages. At the same time, for two years the maximum number of passages has been recorded on weekends dedicated to the state holiday – Russia Day. Thus, this year on certain sections of the northern bypass of Tver from June 12 to 14, an average of almost 30 thousand passages per day was noted. For the convenience of users, two of the largest multifunctional road service zones (MFS) in Russia operate on the northern bypass of Tver, where travelers can fully rest and use all the necessary services for trips both long and short,” noted Vyacheslav Petushenko.
