The winners of the “Student Startup” contest of the “University Technological Entrepreneurship Platform” — a project initiated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in 2022 — have been determined.
“At the initiative of our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the Government is implementing a set of measures to support technological entrepreneurship within the university environment. They help involve students across the country in the work to achieve the national goal — technological leadership — and to bring their own products to market. This year, thanks to the ‘Student Startup’ grant competition, more than 2,200 students, graduate students, and interns will receive 1 million rubles each to develop high-tech projects. It is important that about 70% of such business projects correspond to the directions of the national projects for technological leadership,” emphasized Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
In addition to Russian citizens, representatives of eight other friendly countries won.
In terms of the number of winning projects among the regions, Moscow, the Republic of Tatarstan, Saint Petersburg, the Novosibirsk Region, and the Republic of Bashkortostan are leading, noted the head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Valery Falkov.
“Over four years, the University Technological Entrepreneurship Platform has created an environment in Russian universities that allows students to go from an idea to creating a technological business. The ‘Student Startup’ competition is one of the platform’s key tools. This year, its winners were representatives from more than 300 universities across 79 regions of our country,” the minister said.
The organizer of the competition is the Foundation for Assistance to Innovations.
“Every year, the popularity of the ‘Student Startup’ competition grows, and the seventh round became a record – the fund received 12.6 thousand applications. It is important for us that the projects have practical value and can be adapted to solve current challenges: among the selected startup projects, most are dedicated to digital technologies, the creation of new devices, and developments in the field of biotechnology. And if your project did not make it to the final list, don’t be upset – in a few months we plan to launch a new competition round,” noted the CEO of the Foundation for Assistance to Innovation Andrey Zhizhin.
Applications for the 2026 competition were accepted across seven thematic areas: digital technologies, medicine and health-preserving technologies, chemical technologies and new materials, new devices and intelligent manufacturing technologies, biotechnology, resource-saving energy, and creative industries.
