Almaty, July 14 /Xinhua/ — Oil production in Kazakhstan for January-June 2026 amounted to 45.7 million tons, which is 8.4 percent lower than the figure for the first half of 2025. This was reported on Tuesday by the Kazinform agency citing the Minister of Energy of the republic, Erlan Akkenzhenov.
By the end of 2026, oil production volume is forecasted to be at 98 million tons. Currently, the Ministry of Energy is negotiating with major subsoil users on measures to increase production, the head of the department said.
In addition, in order to compensate for previously reduced volumes, the scheduled preventive maintenance at the Kashagan field has been postponed, which will allow for the compensation of up to 2 million tons of oil.
