Beijing, July 14 /Xinhua/ — China plans to increase the average life expectancy of its population to 80 years by 2030, up from 79.25 years recorded in 2025, amid ongoing efforts to improve public medical services and advance the implementation of the “Healthy China” initiative. This is stated in the new five-year plan for improving public health.
The plan recently published by the State Council of the PRC is aimed at ensuring the balance and accessibility of healthcare services, raising public awareness about the importance of active health management, and aligning the country’s key population health indicators with those of high-income countries.
The document contains a call to strengthen the capacity to ensure public health security and to build up the grassroots structures’ potential in the prevention and treatment of diseases.
It also provides specific guidelines on key tasks such as optimizing the delivery of healthcare services throughout the entire life cycle for all people, consistently strengthening the barrier of medical and sanitary security, accelerating the formation of an integrated system of high-quality and highly efficient medical and sanitary service, creating new drivers for the high-quality development of the healthcare sector, as well as promoting highly effective sectoral management focused on preserving the health of the population. -0-
