Beijing, July 13 /Xinhua/ — The issue surrounding navigation through the Strait of Hormuz must be properly resolved, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian on Monday.
Lin Jian made this statement at the latest departmental press conference, responding to a question related to Iran’s announcement of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz early on the morning of July 12 local time due to an unsafe situation caused by illegal interference from foreign forces.
He added that the Strait of Hormuz is a strait for international shipping. The earliest resumption of safe and free navigation through the strait is in the interests of all parties.
“China is ready to maintain contacts with the relevant countries and the international community on this issue,” Lin Jian noted. -0-
