Beijing, July 11 /Xinhua/ — The Office of the Committee for Production Safety Supervision under the State Council of China has decided to take control of the investigation into a major fire that occurred in the city of Jinjiang, Fujian Province in eastern China, the Ministry of Emergency Management of China reported on Saturday.
On Thursday, a fire broke out at a shoe factory in the town of Chendai of the aforementioned city, resulting in the death of 28 people.
The committee sent a team of inspectors led by representatives of the State Fire and Rescue Department to the scene to oversee the investigation and the elimination of the incident’s consequences.
The committee called on the Fujian provincial authorities to determine the cause of the fire as soon as possible, identify management shortcomings, establish the nature of the incident, and assign responsibility for it.
