The oilfield service company “NTC VECTOR” successfully tested the new generation all-wheel-drive K5 KAMAZ-65954 tractor truck under real working conditions.
The main goal of the test operation was to check the reliability of the components and the adaptation of the all-wheel-drive KAMAZ-65954 tractor truck to the harsh conditions of the oil service sector. The heavy equipment testing was conducted over the course of one month on challenging routes. The vehicle operated in the Orenburg region on a stretch of about 150 kilometers, delivering technical water using a 20-ton capacity tanker semi-trailer. Most of the route was on paved roads, where specialists from “NTC VECTOR” assessed the dynamics, handling, and fuel efficiency of the KAMAZ-65954 at a steady speed. The remaining portion of the route ran over tough off-road terrain directly on the approaches to oil wells, which allowed for a full test of the all-wheel-drive chassis’s passability, the effectiveness of inter-axle and inter-wheel locks, as well as the overall durability of components and assemblies under high load.
“The KAMAZ-65954 tractor unit was tested in the extreme conditions of the ‘last mile’ near an oil well, and here the vehicle proved itself as a true ‘all-terrain vehicle.’ The tests took place during the spring thaw—the most difficult working period—but excellent off-road capability, engine power, and precise gear shifting allowed the machine to easily tow a 20-ton barrel—it was practically unnoticeable to the vehicle. At a mileage of 15 thousand kilometers, we did not encounter a single breakdown or serious complaint. Along with its high operational qualities, comfortable cabin, and price, a huge advantage for us was the ability for prompt warranty service right near the production site. As a result of the tests, the entire team was left with positive impressions, and we are now considering the possibility of purchasing this model to update our vehicle fleet.”, – said chief mechanic of LLC “NTC VECTOR” Sergey Zabaikin.

The all-wheel-drive KAMAZ-65954 (6×6) tractor unit is equipped with a KAMAZ R6 engine producing 560 hp and a 16-speed manual transmission. The modern spacious cabin with a sleeping berth provides an enhanced level of comfort for the driver’s work and rest. The curb weight is 12.6 tons, and the total weight of the road train is 100 tons. This model was launched into serial production in 2025 and is designed for operation both on paved roads and in conditions requiring high cross-country capability.
