A personalized approach to nutrition as a contribution to healthy longevity was discussed by participants of the business session “Nutrition 3.0: a personalized approach,” held within the framework of the II Forum “Russia and the World: Trends in Healthy Longevity.” The session was moderated by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. The forum takes place on July 9–10 in Moscow, at the International Trade Center. The forum organizers are the Government Office and the Roscongress Foundation. Organizational partners include the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the FSBSI “Russian Scientific Center of Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky” of the Ministry of Education and Science.

“We are what we eat” – this phrase by Hippocrates has not lost its relevance to this day. Food is the source of cellular vitality. All experts agree that proper nutrition is a key factor in maintaining health. But it is always important to remember that each person is individual, and different people may react differently to the same food. When choosing a dietary regimen, one must take into account genetic influences on the mechanisms of nutrient absorption, as well as the biochemical processes triggered in the body. Recently, scientific sources have shown an increasing number of studies highlighting the impact of diet and consumed products on the body’s health, including the human brain. Nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics are becoming new scientific directions in the biology of nutrition.

“In 2024, at the Forum of Future Technologies, the President of the country identified nutrition as one of the state priorities. And at the end of 2025, a decree by the President of Russia was signed, which approved the Strategy for the Development of Healthcare in the Russian Federation until 2030, where the issue of nutrition in the context of healthy longevity is given appropriate attention. Some time ago, we adopted a federal law on the quality and safety of food products. It was a complex law in terms of its preparation, but it laid the groundwork for changing dietary habits. At that time, one of the triggers for the enactment of this law was the necessity to introduce free healthy school meals. And today we see the result of this part of the national project on healthy nutrition for schoolchildren, which has contributed to the improvement of our children’s health,” noted Tatyana Golikova. She also cited data from a study on changes in dietary patterns from 2019 to 2025, which showed that citizens began consuming more protein (by 11%), fruits and vegetables (by 6%), while the share of bakery products in the diet decreased (by 9%).

The session was attended by Deputy Head of the Government Office Olga Krivonos; Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation Anna Popova; Professor at the University of Catania (UNICT), President of the European Society for Anti-Aging Medicine (ESAAM) Vittorio Calabrese; Chief Physician of the Preventive Medicine Clinic at the Institute of Aging Biology and Healthy Longevity Medicine of the Russian Scientific Center of Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky Inna Reshetova; President of the Velpharm Group Lyudmila Shcherbakova.

Experts discussed how diet can contribute to achieving healthy longevity, how science can assist in the transition to personalized nutrition, the need for which was noted by the President, as well as how nutrition can be used to slow biological aging and reduce the risk of age-associated diseases.
