Beijing, July 10 /Xinhua/ — According to data from the Hohhot branch of the state corporation “China Railway,” on July 6, China-Europe train number 1293, loaded with auto parts, daily necessities, and other goods, departed from the Erenhot checkpoint /Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia, Northern China/. Thus, the number of trains passing through the “central corridor” of the China-Europe international freight transport since the beginning of 2026 has surpassed 2,500. This was reported on Friday by the Chinese daily newspaper “Neimenggu Ribao.”
Recall that Erenhot is the only border crossing in the “central corridor” of China-Europe freight transportation.
Starting this year, local railway authorities are paying significant attention to the construction of a digital and intelligent border crossing, continuously improving the integrated model of freight organization between the Erenhot station and the adjacent Mongolian station in order to enhance the operational efficiency of China-Europe train traffic.
Currently, the minimum customs clearance time at the Erenhot checkpoint has been reduced to approximately 30 minutes, and about 13 China-Europe trains pass through this border crossing daily.
As an important pragmatic project for the joint implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative, China-Europe trains continue to densify the logistics network across Asia and Europe. Currently, 76 China-Europe railway routes pass through the Erenhot checkpoint, covering more than 70 hub stations in over 10 countries, such as Germany and Poland, as well as most Chinese cities of departure for China-Europe trains.
Since the launch of the first China-Europe train through the Erenhot checkpoint, the total number of such trains passing through it has already exceeded 25,000.
