This season, students from our university—participants in the International Student Construction Brigade “Wheel of Fortune,” operating at SPbGASU—once again joined the ranks of international student construction brigades working at overseas sites being built by the state corporation Rosatom. The members of the SPbGASU brigade movement traveled to the construction sites of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant (Turkey, International Student Construction Brigade (ISCB) “Bosporus”), El-Dabaa (Egypt, ISCB “Oasis”), and Rooppur (Bangladesh, ISCB “Lotus”).
MSCO projects are implemented with the support of the State Atomic Energy Corporation “Rosatom” and the All-Russian Youth Public Organization “Russian Student Teams”.
Thus, on July 5, the eighth work season of the international student construction team “Bosporus” was ceremoniously launched at the construction site of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant, “Akkuyu.” The project is organized by the Russian national youth public organization “Russian Student Teams” and JSC “CONCERN TITAN-2,” which has been hosting the workers for the sixth time. The project began in the year declared as the Year of Atomic Energy by the Republic of Turkey and is timed to the key stage of construction – the technical launch of the first power unit of the “Akkuyu” nuclear power plant.
“We see you as full-fledged employees. The main goal is to familiarize you as much as possible with real production, to awaken interest in the profession, and to provide a foundation for a professional start. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, study what interests you, because this is exactly what forms attachment to the profession and gives the greatest productivity. The guys from the student groups have gone through the entire history of this facility and have left a good mark in it,” noted the CEO of TSM Enerji (part of the KONSERN TITAN-2 group) speaking at the opening. Evgeny Yatsenko.
At the end of the working semester, the organizing companies hold individual interviews with students and provide employment guarantees to those who have demonstrated a high professional level.
At Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, there are rich traditions of the student squad movement, which provides students with labor education and direct experience of working in production. Currently SPbGASU Student Teams Headquarters comprises nine units, including four construction units. In addition, based at SPbGASU there are MSSO “Wheel of Fortune” and “Swallow” – units of the Youth Patriotic Action “Nevsky Landing”.
