Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with the governor of Stavropol Krai, Vladimir Vladimirov. The main topics were the development of the agro-industrial complex and rural areas, as well as ensuring environmental well-being.
The head of the region spoke about the progress of seasonal fieldwork. In the Stavropol Territory, the harvest has begun, with 1.6 million tons of grain already collected at a yield of 39.2 centners per hectare.
Dmitry Patrushev emphasized the importance of providing agricultural workers with all necessary resources, especially fuel and lubricants.
Special attention at the meeting was given to the development of horticulture. Today, Stavropol is one of the leading horticultural regions of Russia. The region has established a complete production cycle—from growing planting material to storing and selling finished products. Thanks to government support measures, new orchards and nurseries are planted annually, and modern growing technologies are implemented.
In 2026, the allocated funds will allow the planting of more than 200 hectares of new orchards and about 120 hectares of fruit nurseries. Stavropol farms are capable of growing up to 10 million fruit crop seedlings per year, and the geography of their supplies is constantly expanding.
The storage infrastructure for fruit products is also developing. The region’s simultaneous storage capacity exceeds 68 thousand tons. In addition, this year a new fruit storage facility with a capacity of 30 thousand tons is planned to be commissioned in Nevinnomyssk. By 2030, the total storage capacity in the region will increase by another 53 thousand tons.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the development of the reclamation complex. Stavropol Krai has the largest reclamation system in Russia, with a total length of over 2,600 km. This year, about 100 thousand hectares of agricultural land are irrigated in the region. By 2030, it is planned to increase the area of irrigated land to 138 thousand hectares.
Special attention in the Stavropol Territory is given to the development of rural areas. During the implementation of the program of the same name, its activities covered about 200 thousand rural residents. Social facilities, communal infrastructure, and roads have been constructed and modernized in the districts. Work continues on improving public spaces, increasing transport accessibility of rural settlements, and enhancing housing conditions.
Dmitry Patrushev and Vladimir Vladimirov also discussed issues related to the implementation of the national project “Environmental Well-being” in the region. Within its framework, the Stavropol Territory is working on forming a circular economy and preserving forests. Activities are being carried out for forest restoration, forest seed production facilities and nurseries are being created, and specialized firefighting equipment is being acquired.
In addition, this year the Stavropol Krai joined the nationwide campaign “Water of Russia.” As part of it, the clearing of riverbanks and water bodies is carried out, as well as the removal of blockages near bridges and hydraulic structures. Since March, over 260 such events have taken place in the region, which has helped reduce the risks associated with the spring flood. The work continues on a regular basis.
