Beijing, July 9 /Xinhua/ — The State Council of the PRC has published an action plan to reach peak carbon emissions during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), which outlines key tasks and measures to achieve the goal for this period.
According to the plan, by 2030, carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP in China will be reduced by 17% compared to the 2025 level, and the share of energy consumption not related to fossil fuels will reach 25%.
These measures are designed to ensure the timely achievement of the goal of reaching the peak of carbon emissions and to lay a solid foundation for meeting the target under the nationally determined contribution for 2035, as well as for advancing toward carbon neutrality.
The plan outlines key tasks in five areas, including accelerating the adjustment and optimization of the energy structure, promoting environmentally friendly and low-carbon industrial development, and deepening the transition to environmentally friendly and low-carbon production in key sectors. -0-
