Ankara, July 8 /Xinhua/ — The United States may resume the naval blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz and possibly establish control over the Iranian island of Khark. This was stated by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday in the Turkish capital on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
Earlier, D. Trump told journalists in Ankara that on Wednesday evening the United States may once again strike Iran “hard.”
These statements were made against the backdrop of a new escalation and a fresh exchange of strikes between the US and Iran since Tuesday evening.
The US military struck 80 Iranian targets in response to alleged Iranian attacks on commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Later, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps attacked 85 American military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait. –0–
