The working group for preparing the national “Abilympics” championship 2026 has approved the dates and venue for the competition. It will take place from October 31 to November 3 in Moscow at the Timiryazev Center training and exhibition complex.
“The ‘Abilympics’ movement, developing within the framework of the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ helps people with health limitations prove that work and skill are stronger than any barriers. Recently, we awarded our heroes – the winners of the championship among participants of the special military operation, and in the autumn there will be another key event of the championship movement constellation in professional skills – the ‘Abilympics’ championship. This year, more than 35 thousand people from all over Russia took part in its regional stage. In total, over 3 thousand employers support the competitions. I am confident that the national ‘Abilympics’ championship will open new career opportunities for the participants,” said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov noted that “Abilympics” creates a unique ecosystem for supporting talents.
“The Russian Ministry of Education places great emphasis on the development of the ‘Abilympics’ movement. We see a tremendous response from the volunteer community: at the regional stage alone, more than 14 thousand volunteers supported the participants. Most of them are young people. Involving young people in such activities is a crucial state task and an integral part of the educational process. The development of the volunteer sector will not only enhance support for participants at all stages of the championship but also establish the right value guidelines, expanding opportunities for engaging youth in creating an accessible and inclusive environment,” said Sergey Kravtsov.
The working group of the national ‘Abilympics’ championship updated the regulatory framework, decided to develop a network of regional volunteer centers, and also updated the provisions concerning the work of experts and appeals commissions.
“Today it is important to ensure uniform, equal conditions of participation at all stages of the competition. The decisions made will allow for the synchronization of the work of regions, the expert community, and volunteers, strengthen the organizational foundation of the championship, and focus on the main thing – creating opportunities for each participant for professional self-realization, education, and employment. Our common task is for participation in the championship to become a real step for a person towards a sought-after profession, stable work, and independent life,” noted Sergey Kozhevnikov, Rector of the Institute for the Development of Professional Education.

Representatives of federal executive authorities, public organizations for persons with disabilities, educational institutions, employers, expert and volunteer communities participated in the working group meeting.
The Championship of Professional Skills among Disabled People and Persons with Health Limitations “Abilympics” is held with the support of the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Moscow government, and the presidential platform “Russia – Land of Opportunities” as part of the federal project “Professionalism” of the national project “Youth and Children.” The federal operator of the project is the Institute for the Development of Vocational Education.
