Caracas, July 6 /Xinhua/ — The first batch of humanitarian aid provided to Venezuela by the Chinese government arrived on Monday at Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetia, near the Venezuelan capital Caracas.
The handover ceremony at the airport was attended by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil and the Chinese Ambassador to the country, Lan Hu.
On behalf of the Venezuelan people, I. Hill thanked the government and leadership of China for the humanitarian aid, noting that after the earthquakes, the Chinese side maintains close communication with the Venezuelan government.
According to him, this cargo, which includes tents and electric generators, is vital for people who have lost their homes as a result of the natural disaster, and is a testament to the strong all-weather strategic partnership between the two countries.
I. Khil pointed out that the Chinese community and enterprises with Chinese capital in Venezuela stretched out a helping hand from the very beginning, participating in rescue operations and assisting displaced persons.
The head of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry emphasized that many of these episodes deeply touched the soul. He added that the Venezuelan people saw support, and the friendship between the two peoples living on one land was strengthened.
On the evening of June 24, Venezuela was shaken by the most powerful underground tremors in over 100 years: within a minute, two strong earthquakes with magnitudes above 7 occurred.
