On July 6, the INNOPROM-2026 exhibition opened in Yekaterinburg. It is the main industrial exhibition in Russia. Key representatives of industry, science, and education from around the world gathered at one venue. INNOPROM-2026 covers such sectors as metallurgy, mechanical engineering, materials production, automation, IT, and many others. This year, more than 52,000 people from 66 countries are participating in the exhibition. The partner country this year is the Republic of Indonesia.

The booth of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University attracted great attention from guests and participants of the exhibition. The university showcases developments that confirm the high level of the university’s scientific and engineering school.
Low-noise single-photon detector for quantum communications
The detector operates in continuous mode and is designed to register extremely weak optical signals at a wavelength of 1550 nm. Thanks to a record low dark count rate, the device ensures stable operation of quantum key distribution systems in long-haul lines with losses exceeding 30 dB.
Mobile laser cladding system “Nomad”
It is designed to perform restoration work on large-sized products at the customer’s site. The complex was designed to carry out projects for repairing components of domestic and imported gas turbine engines. The technology allows for applying layers of material onto a substrate or a finished product. Metal powders and wires can be used as raw materials. The main feature of the development is its compactness and the ability to be moved to the work site, which is extremely convenient for repairing large-sized products.
Universal diagnostic platform based on technologies CRISP–Cas
Effective containment of the epidemiological spread of infections and the prescription of correct therapy to patients require rapid, highly sensitive, and accessible diagnostics — especially in settings where the ability to conduct testing directly at the patient’s bedside is crucial. At SPbPU, a fully domestic rapid diagnostic system based on isothermal amplification and the collateral activity of Cas proteins is being developed, along with a device for mobile molecular diagnostics. All protein components of the system are produced at SPbPU. In addition, a prototype of a portable device for express registration of test results has been created, allowing test results to be recorded within 20–30 minutes.
Nature-like technology for protecting water resources in a metropolis
Industrial cartridge — an effective barrier for protecting urban waters. FOPS filters purify wastewater, turning sewage wells into eco-stations. The development is entirely domestic and has already been tested in major cities. The solution is relevant for all urbanized areas. After purification, FOPS filters are not discarded but incorporated into nutrient substrates. This technology closes the ecological cycle, reduces waste, and makes agriculture “greener.”
Platform “Zhučok”
A universal tracked platform whose main purpose is to give a person the freedom to move, the ability to freely overcome difficult terrain such as snow, sand, and mud.
Compact model of a wheeled unmanned logistics robot
The unmanned logistics robot is designed for a wide range of tasks related to logistics, industrial, and manufacturing systems. The flexibility of the built-in software based on Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) allows programming the robot to perform various tasks such as transporting goods within premises, mapping interiors, carrying out inspection tasks in production, recognizing objects and participants in the surrounding environment, and much more.
Battery module for 48V 12Ah Start-stop systems
The battery module is used as an indivisible element for assembling battery packs (systems), in particular, as a power element for Start-stop systems. It is characterized by high current output. The module includes power and measurement switching.
The Museum of the History of Polytech also presented exhibits dedicated to Polytech graduate Petr Alexandrovich Friken — a Russian and Soviet engineer, one of the pioneers of optical glass production in Russia, the first “red director” of the Imperial (later Leningrad) Porcelain and Glass Factory, and organizer of the production of the famous “agitational porcelain.” In 1902, Petr Friken enrolled in the Metallurgical Department of the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic Institute. At the SPbPU stand, one can see a reconstruction of the uniform of official Petr Alexandrovich Friken with the badge of a graduate of the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic Institute and the Order of Saint Stanislaus 3rd class. Also presented are his personal file as a student of the Metallurgical Department of SPbPI, the honorary badge “Hero of Labor,” a sample of optical glass welded at the Imperial Porcelain and Glass Factory, a photograph of Petr Friken, a plate made of agitational porcelain from the 1920s, and a plate—a gift to the Polytechnic Institute from the State Porcelain Factory on the 15th anniversary of the start of classes in 1917.
The Polytechnic University booth was visited on the first day of the exhibition by State Duma deputy of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Denis Kravchenko. SPbPU Rector Andrey Rudskoy showed him the university’s exhibition and told him about all the advanced developments.
