The total volume of transactions in the derivatives market of the Moscow Exchange in June 2026 amounted to nearly 17.5 trillion rubles, which is 71% more than in June of the previous year. The volume of open positions in the exchange-traded derivatives market at the end of the month increased by 71%, reaching 16.6 trillion rubles (9.7 trillion rubles in June 2025).

220 thousand clients made futures and options trades on the Moscow Exchange in May (+20% compared to June 2025). The share of retail clients in the total trading volume of exchange-traded derivatives was 47%.

The largest share of the volume of individual transactions in June was accounted for by currency derivatives – 40%, the share of commodity contracts was 34%, and 26% was accounted for by stock and index futures and options.

In the TOP 10 most popular tools among individuals[1] By trading volume in June, quarterly futures on the currency pairs “US dollar-Russian ruble” (Si) and “Chinese yuan-Russian ruble” (CNY), quarterly futures on gold (GOLD), futures on the Moscow Exchange Index (MIX), Brent oil contracts (BR), perpetual futures on the “Chinese yuan-Russian ruble” pair (CNYRUBF), silver futures (SILV), perpetual futures on the “US dollar-Russian ruble” rate (USDRUBF), perpetual futures on the Moscow Exchange Index (IMOEXF), and natural gas futures (NG) were included.

The share of the evening trading session in the total trading volume on the derivatives market amounted to 11%. Morning trading in June accounted for 6% of the total trading volume. The volume of operations on the derivatives market during the weekend reached 259 billion rubles.

In June, the popularity of the perpetual futures segment was recorded to increase on the Moscow Exchange’s derivatives market. The average daily trading volume exceeded 110 billion rubles (+129% compared to June 2025). The previous peak was recorded in October 2025 and amounted to 106 billion rubles.

The top 5 perpetual futures by average daily trading volume in June included: contracts on “Chinese yuan-Russian ruble” (CNYRUBF) – 49 billion rubles, “US dollar-Russian ruble” (USDRUBF) – 27 billion rubles (a record in history), perpetual futures on the Moscow Exchange Index (IMOEXF) – 26 billion rubles, perpetual futures on gold (GLDRUBF) – 5 billion rubles, and perpetual futures on the “euro-Russian ruble” exchange rate (EURRUBF) – 2.3 billion rubles.

In June, trading began on the Moscow Exchange’s derivatives market for futures on ADRs of the world’s largest companies, mini-futures on the US dollar and euro, contracts on the US dollar to Indian rupee exchange rate, and futures on Lenta shares.
