Beijing, July 6 /Xinhua/ — On Sunday, the Ministry of Emergency Management of China dispatched two more working groups to the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (South China) and Liaoning Province (Northeast China) to assist in flood control and disaster relief, the aforementioned ministry reported.
The Ministry, together with the relevant agencies, held a meeting on the same day to analyze the situation related to flood control and the aftermath of the typhoon.
Under the influence of Typhoon “Maysak,” heavy rains are expected in southern China and in areas along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, which experts believe may cause mudflows, landslides, geological disasters, and urban flooding.
At the same time, precipitation will become frequent and intense in some regions of the country. According to forecasts, in the coming days, heavy rains will hit the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northeast China, northern China, as well as the area between the Yellow River and the Huai River.
The meeting emphasized the need to intensify efforts to identify and eliminate potential risks, carefully monitor flood risks on small and medium rivers, and also strengthen efforts for evacuating people and taking other temporary flood control measures.
