Vladivostok, July 5 /Xinhua/ — In the context of a profound transformation of the global system, the ideas of Chinese President Xi Jinping acquire global significance, as they offer conceptual answers to the key challenges of our time. This opinion was expressed in an interview with Xinhua by Olga Migunova, the scientific director of the Center for the Study of China and Asia-Pacific countries at Saint Petersburg State University of Economics.
As the expert pointed out, the modern world is going through a pivotal historical stage, where global governance mechanisms formed after World War II are increasingly misaligned with new political and economic realities and unable to cope with new challenges.
At the same time, as O. Migunova emphasized, regional conflicts are intensifying, and the gap between the countries of the Global North and the Global South is widening.
In her opinion, it is under these conditions that the concept put forward by China of building a community with a shared future for mankind, along with four global initiatives — in the fields of development, security, civilization, and governance — become particularly relevant.
The idea of Xi Jinping acquires special significance in the context of the formation of a multipolar world, according to the Xinhua interlocutor.
“Unlike the Western logic of universalism and Westernization, Chinese concepts offer a paradigm of interdependence and mutually beneficial cooperation, which is extremely relevant for the modern world and undoubtedly has global significance, especially for the countries of the Global South,” she pointed out.
Answering the question about the place of Xi Jinping’s ideas in the history of world socialism, O. Migunova emphasized that modernization in the Chinese style has significantly expanded the understanding of contemporary models of socialist development.
“China has breathed new life into global socialism through Chinese modernization, debunking the myth of Westernization as the only path for development and offering an alternative model based on universal prosperity and harmony,” the expert noted.
