Saint Petersburg, July 3 /Xinhua/ — The Chinese theory of innovation-driven development greatly expands the possibilities for analyzing socio-political processes and outlines practical steps toward the positive development of the future for the entire world, noted Olga Migunova, scientific director of the Center for the Study of China and the Asia-Pacific Region at Saint Petersburg State University of Economics (SPbSEU), in an interview with Xinhua.
According to her, the use of the achievements of Chinese political thought allows for the analysis of non-European political systems without imposing categories of Western thought that are alien to their mentality. “The Chinese approach has found development in the relational theory of world politics, according to which the international system is built not on competition and domination, but on interdependence, role responsibility, and the pursuit of harmony. And with regard to characterizing the domestic political features, Chinese political science has proposed the concepts of consultative democracy and state governance,” the expert notes.
“In the field of anthropology, Chinese thought is taking even more innovative steps. Civilizational anthropology allows for a new analysis of China or, for example, Russia, as cultural and moral universes consisting of many peoples, who, in the course of living together, preserve their characteristics, but at the same time are united by a common civilizational code,” said O. Migunova.
In her opinion, the main value of the Chinese approach to analyzing modern societal development lies in its ability to take into account the multifaceted nature of human experience. Unlike Western theories, which offered the world a distorted picture and perspective of development, China is building a completely new understanding of the meaning of the historical process, its objective logic, and vision of the future. “China sets a positive agenda not only for its one and a half billion population but for all humanity. It creates a positive image of the future and also designs practical steps towards this future,” the Russian expert believes. –0–
