Moscow, July 2 /Xinhua/ — The escalation by the EU exacerbates tensions on the European continent, compelling Russia to take additional measures to ensure its own security. This was stated on Thursday during a briefing by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov.
“The fact that escalation is happening on the part of Europe is certain… Of course, we cannot turn a blind eye to this, and certainly, this factor exacerbates the already heightened tension on the European continent. This factor forces us to plan additional measures to ensure our own security,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
As D. Peskov noted, the EU has embarked on the path of militarization and is dedicating itself to the theme of confrontation with Russia. “The fact that as it forms its defense identity, the European Union has engaged in and embarked on a path of militarization and, in fact, dedicates itself to the theme of confrontation with the Russian Federation — this is also unequivocal,” he stated.
