The Rosneft Scientific Institute organized the 19th conference of young specialists in “Science” and “Gas Business” in Tyumen. 130 innovators from the Company’s subsidiaries presented their projects.

Projects related to information technology and the implementation of artificial intelligence in the oil and gas industry attracted the most attention from participants. Specialists from the Tyumen Scientific Institute proposed the idea of using neural network analysis for accurate forecasting of oil and gas deposits. By comparing seismic survey data and geophysical well studies, the neural network increases the reliability of the geological model by 10-20% even in complex geological conditions. The methodology has already been tested at several Company fields and confirmed its effectiveness.

Also awarded was the AI assistant project, which uses special algorithms to automate the formation and optimization of drilling plans for fields in the late stage of development. When tested on data from drilled wells, the digital assistant’s accuracy exceeded 80%, indicating its high reliability. Other advantages of this intelligent solution include increased speed in calculating flow rates, planning well placement, and conducting techno-economic assessments of field development.

Specialists from the Ufa scientific institute have introduced an online service for digitizing production processes of interpreting hydrodynamic well studies, including using machine learning methods. The program automates the collection and processing of oil well data and generates a ranking of wells where geological and technical operations are required to increase oil production. By the end of 2025, the use of the developed tool allowed increasing the number of studies carried out at RN-Yuganskneftegaz fields without involving additional resources. The effectiveness of geological and technical measures increased by 5%.

In addition to innovative ideas in the field of intelligent technologies, young specialists presented more than 100 projects in thematic sections: geology and geological exploration, well and rock research, hydrogeology, development of gas and gas condensate fields, scientific experiments.

An employee of a Moscow scientific institute proposed a method to optimize the gas field dehydration process. To achieve the set goal, an approach was suggested that combines the calculation of the installation’s operating parameters (material and thermal balance of flows) with computational hydrodynamics tools (CFD modeling). The use of this approach made it possible to significantly increase the average operational lifespan of the considered installation until the scheduled major overhaul and reduce operating costs by 6.5 times.

A specialist from the Rosneft Scientific Institute in Krasnoyarsk has proposed two seismic data processing methods that increase the accuracy of predicting reservoir properties of rocks by 30%. The new methods are recommended for use at fields in Eastern Siberia.

An expert jury identified the technological solutions with the greatest potential for industry implementation. The winners of this stage of the conference will have to defend their projects in Moscow. Over two decades of holding such conferences, young specialists from the Company’s enterprises have presented more than four thousand projects, a quarter of which were recommended for implementation in production and brought an economic effect of more than 5.6 billion rubles.
