Dear colleagues!
Welcome to the opening of the III International High-Level Conference “World Treasure of Native Languages: To Protect and Cherish,” held within the framework of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages.
The conference is held in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, declared by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
Russia is a unique civilization where, for centuries, representatives of nearly two hundred peoples have lived in peace and harmony, and the issues of preserving, developing, and promoting linguistic diversity are a crucial component of our country’s language policy.
Today, we are not only improving legislation in this area but also implementing specific projects in education, science, culture, and digitalization—from developing textbooks to introducing high-tech IT solutions that help languages remain alive and in demand in the digital age.
Favorable conditions have been created for the study of native languages, the publication of educational and reference literature is ensured, lectures, seminars, trainings, large-scale cultural events are held, and support is provided for national cinema, theatrical art, and book publishing in the languages of the peoples of Russia.
I am convinced that your professional and engaged dialogue will help develop new approaches, exchange best practices, and strengthen international cooperation.
I wish all conference participants a substantive and fruitful work aimed at ensuring that every language continues to sound loud and confident for future generations.
