Tehran, July 1 /Xinhua/ — Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated on Tuesday that Iran will not enter into negotiations with the United States on a final agreement unless certain points of the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two sides are fulfilled.
M. B. Galibaf, who is also the head of the Iranian negotiating team, made this statement in an interview with IRIB state television, talking about the latest developments related to the implementation of the memorandum of understanding and negotiations with the United States.
He said that the recent trip of the Iranian delegation to Switzerland was aimed at implementing the provisions of the MVL, which provide for the cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon, lifting the US naval blockade, opening the Strait of Hormuz, granting the US a license to sell Iranian crude oil, and unfreezing Iranian assets.
According to M. B. Galibaf, until these five preliminary points are fulfilled, the implementation of the remaining points will not begin.
He also said that Iran, the United States, and Lebanon agreed to form a joint committee to ensure compliance with the ceasefire, end military actions in Lebanon, and protect Lebanon’s sovereignty, adding that Iran and the United States, two of the three parties, have already appointed their representatives.
