Beijing, July 1 /Xinhua/ — The Communist Party of China (CPC) is celebrating its 105th anniversary this year, and its journey serves as proof of its vitality, capacity for innovation, and strong leadership. Remaining true to its original mission, the CPC has carried out one of the most extensive modernization transformations in human history.
The CPC was founded in 1921 and regarded the struggle for the happiness of the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as its original goal and mission. At that time, China was a weak, impoverished country suffering humiliations from other states, where previous attempts to save the nation ended in failure. The CPC united and led the country’s multinational people in an unrelenting struggle for national independence and the liberation of the people. In the following decades, the CPC continued to guide China’s path to prosperity, power, and a better life for the population.
Under the leadership of the CPC, China has transformed into the world’s second-largest economy, achieving significant progress in science and technology, greatly improving living standards, and becoming an important force that ensures stability and certainty in an unsettled world. As the largest developing country in the world, China is advancing in all directions with the goal of basically achieving socialist modernization by 2035.
What explains the ability of the CPC to lead China on the path of sustainable development? The answer lies in its distinctive qualities, namely its mission, which places the people at the center, its organizational, mobilizational and executive potential, its capacity for learning and innovation, its openness and vitality, as well as its commitments to self-transformation. Taken together, these qualities help interpret the logic underlying China’s rise.
Unlike parties that exclusively represent certain groups or interests, the CPC has always placed the interests of the people first, responded to their problems and needs, and worked to improve their well-being. These deeply rooted, inseparable blood ties with the masses provide the CPC with an inexhaustible source of strength. As a political party dedicated to serving the people, the CPC makes decisions and pursues a political course based on the fundamental interests of the people.
As a result of decades of continuous efforts, especially over eight years of implementing a policy of targeted assistance to those in need, China has achieved a historic success in eradicating absolute poverty and in fully building a moderately prosperous society. Social welfare is also reflected in the creation of the largest education, social security, and healthcare systems in the world. Both urban and rural residents of China enjoy a life that has become much more comfortable than ever before, thanks to significant improvements in transportation, energy, and telecommunications infrastructure.
The strength of the CPC stems from its institutional architecture, which consists of the unified centralized leadership of the CPC Central Committee, its local committees, over 5.43 million grassroots organizations, and more than 101 million members nationwide. This system provides the party with enormous capabilities to mobilize and unite 1.4 billion Chinese people to achieve a common goal. It also ensures an effective mechanism for training highly qualified personnel based on practical experience at local and grassroots levels to advance the cause of the CPC.
The CPC is a dynamic and viable organization that continually adapts to changing times. It has, without being constrained by rigid dogmas, developed as a party of educational and innovative type, capable of combining the fundamental principles of Marxism with the concrete realities of China and the best achievements of traditional Chinese culture. Scientific political theories enable the CPC to follow the general trend of human development and always keep pace with the times. The CPC’s innovation-based strategy has accelerated the modernization of the country’s industry and contributed to the creation of new drivers for the qualitative development of China’s economy.
To forge iron, one must first horseshoe oneself. In this context, the potential of the CPC leadership is inextricably linked to its continuous self-transformation. The CPC is clearly aware of the dangers and risks it faces, such as detachment from the masses and corruption. Adhering to the principle of absolute intolerance to corruption, the CPC strives for complete and unwavering self-transformation. In 2025, disciplinary organs initiated investigations into 181 officials at provincial and ministerial levels and above. Nationwide, 983,000 individuals involved in corruption were subjected to disciplinary or administrative punishment. Since the convening of the 18th CPC National Congress at the end of 2012, the Party has conducted a series of educational activities to maintain its advanced character and purity.
The Communist Party of China adheres to open-mindedness and possesses a global vision, making China’s development increasingly integrated with the rest of the world. The Party advocates for building a community with a shared future for mankind. In an era characterized by geopolitical tension and global challenges, China firmly upholds the principles of genuine multilateralism and consistently follows the path of peaceful development. Through its global initiatives in development, security, civilization, and governance, the CPC has made significant contributions to ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity worldwide.
The 105th anniversary of the CPC coincides with the 90th anniversary of the victory in the Great March of the Red Army, led by the CPC. The spirit demonstrated during this grand military maneuver, including firm belief that the righteous cause will surely triumph, fearlessness in the face of any difficulties, commitment to seeking truth based on facts, and unwavering reliance on the masses, will continue to help the CPC advance and tackle any challenges.
With a clear understanding of its mission, strong executive potential, and commitment to collaborative development, the CPC is undoubtedly capable of leading China to new victories in the current Great Journey: advancing along the path of Chinese modernization, striving for the comprehensive advancement of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and working together with the rest of the world for a bright future. -0-
