Yerevan, July 1 /Xinhua/ — The first high-level conference of the Armenian platform for dialogue among European prosecutors, dedicated to issues of confiscation and management of illegal assets, opened on Wednesday in the Armenian capital. This was reported by the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia.
The event is held within the framework of the program “Partnership for Good Governance,” co-financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe, as well as the programs implemented by the Council of Europe: “Strengthening Armenia’s National Capacity for Effective Prevention and Combating of Economic Crimes” and “Supporting the Implementation of Judicial and Legal Reforms in Armenia.”
Special attention at the conference will be given to new types of financial crimes. In addition, effective models for managing illicitly obtained property will be discussed, the position of the European Court of Human Rights regarding assets acquired illegally, as well as advanced international practices for protecting the rights of crime victims and ensuring their interests.
The two-day conference includes prosecutors, high-ranking officials of justice bodies, and international experts from more than 10 countries. –0–
