Urumqi, July 1 /Xinhua/ — The 9th China-Eurasia Expo, which concluded on Monday in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region /XUAR, Northwest China/, set a record in scale, organizers announced on Tuesday.
The event, which took place from June 25 to 29 in the city of Urumqi, /admin. center of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region/, was attended by more than 3,100 Chinese and foreign institutions and enterprises, setting a record for the entire history of this EXPO. In total, representatives from 49 countries, regions, and international organizations participated in the exhibition, with 27 of them opening their national exhibition pavilions. More than 2,000 foreign exhibitors and buyers attended the event for business negotiations, and the number of domestic professional merchants reached 23,700 people.
“A significant increase in international coverage, the quality of market participants, and the level of matching demand and supply, as well as the active participation and enthusiasm of businesspeople in negotiations, are the most direct confirmation of the prospects for Eurasian cooperation,” said Xu Yeping, Deputy Head of the Department for International Exhibitions of the SUAR.
According to official data, during the five days of the event, this EXPO was visited by 329.3 thousand people, among whom were nearly 10 thousand foreigners.
More than 80 economic and trade events were held during the EXPO — from high-level dialogues to sessions dedicated to specific countries, and events to establish contacts between industry representatives; meanwhile, new models of cross-border trade continue to demonstrate advantages, said Li Hongci, Deputy Head of the Department of Commerce of the XUAR.
