Urumqi, June 30 /Xinhua/ — From May 16 to June 25, the number of border crossings through the Ulastai automobile checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR), Northwest China, amounted to 721 person-times. This is evidenced by data from the border control service at the Ulastai automobile checkpoint.

According to the aforementioned service, the number of vehicle crossings at this seasonal border crossing on the state border between China and Mongolia was 711 times.

The Ulastay checkpoint is located in the northern part of the Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and is the closest vehicle checkpoint to the city of Urumqi, the administrative center of the XUAR. It used to be open only in May, July, and September each year, operating for 15 days per month. Thus, the checkpoint was open for a total of 45 days per year.

This year, the border crossing is open consecutively, starting from May 16. According to the plan, the total operating duration of the border crossing will be 138 days. -0-
