Almaty, June 26 /Xin Hua/ — The presentation of the memorial book “Kazakhstan — Participants of the War against Militarist Japan /1945/” took place on Friday in Almaty. Experts and scholars from Kazakhstan’s universities and research institutions, as well as descendants of servicemen who participated in the hostilities against Japan, took part in the event.
The book includes brief biographies, copies of documents, personal photographs of Kazakhstani war veterans who fought against militaristic Japan, as well as articles and essays about their combat feats. Many descendants of veterans have stated that for the first time they saw materials about their relatives’ combat path collected in a single publication.
The Consul General of the PRC in Almaty, Su Fanqiu, in his speech stated that this book is not only a valuable historical publication but also an important bridge between the past and the future, contributing to the strengthening of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Kazakhstan.The publication of the book of memory will help broader layers of the population of China and Kazakhstan, especially the younger generation, to learn more deeply this important page of common history, to preserve the memory of the heroes who gave their lives in the name of peace, to continue the tradition of friendship formed between the peoples in the joint struggle against fascism and militarism, so that the relay of peace and friendship passes from generation to generation.
The organizers of the event were the Research Institute of International and Regional Cooperation at the Kazakh-German University, the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Almaty, and the expert club “Belt and Road” Kazakhstan. –0–
