In Moscow, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev and the State Minister, Minister of Hydrocarbons of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Mohamed Arkab held the 13th meeting of the Mixed Intergovernmental Russian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. The sides discussed cooperation between the two states in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture, education, and other areas.
“We greatly value the historically friendly relations that connect Russia and Algeria. I am convinced that the established cooperation corresponds to the long-term interests of the peoples of both states. And, of course, the strengthening of a trustful dialogue is facilitated by the personal contacts of the leaders of our countries. Algeria is one of Russia’s key partners in North Africa. Last year, the volume of mutual trade increased by more than one and a half times. Currently, the dynamics are also positive,” said Dmitry Patrushev.
In particular, during the past period of the current year, trade in agricultural products between the two countries increased by more than 40% compared to the same period in 2025. Russia has significantly increased supplies of soybean oil, wheat, and skimmed milk powder.
One of the key areas of cooperation is energy. At the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, a plan for the implementation of the memorandum in the field of metrology was signed, which will contribute to the successful implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas industry, atomic energy, and mechanical engineering.
Furthermore, countries are developing partnerships in the field of standardization. Thus, Algeria can apply Russian standards, including for simplifying mutual trade.
“We expect that the results of the meeting will facilitate the implementation of joint projects and the further development of cooperation between Russia and Algeria,” Dmitry Patrushev concluded.
Following the event, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Algerian People’s Democratic Republic signed the final protocol of the 13th meeting of the Mixed Intergovernmental Russian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation. In addition, agreements were concluded on cooperation in the fields of science, tourism, and customs affairs.
