Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the governor of the Orenburg region, Evgeny Solntsev. They discussed the development of tourism, sports, and education in the region.

“We see that Orenburg region effectively implements national projects – not on paper, but in practice. Billions of budget funds are put into action. The Orenburg region possesses enormous tourist potential: this includes natural recreational opportunities and cultural diversity. Today, it is important to maximally utilize the tools of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality,” primarily by increasing the number of hotel rooms. If last year the region was visited by 1.1 million tourists – 35% more than in 2024 – then today there are every chance to multiply the tourist flow,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

In the Orenburg region, 5 auto routes have been developed – more than in all the regions of the Volga and Ural areas. They are posted on the portal “Puteshestvuyem.rf”, which operates within the framework of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality”. In 2025, more than 250 thousand people traveled around the region by car.

Evgeny Solntsev reported on the prospects and attractiveness of the Orenburg region in the field of tourism. Over the past year, more than 1.6 million people visited the region’s salt lakes.

“This year, as part of SPIEF, our region presented quite ambitiously and boldly a development strategy for the Orenburg region for the next 10 years. We outlined plans not only for the development of the industrial and economic sectors. In the strategy, we also emphasize tourism. We have a significant feature for the entire country — these are the salt lakes in Sol-Iletsk. The composition of the water in them is similar to that of the Dead Sea. Our salt lakes are already in demand among tourists from Russia and the CIS countries, as evidenced by the visitation numbers last year. The first Russian chain hotel has opened with us.”A large wellness and resort complex will appear nearby soon. In addition, Orenburg region has beautiful nature, hot summers, and in winter in Kuvandyk you can ski. We see prospects and will do everything to ensure that they come to us to relax,” the governor noted.

Dmitry Chernyshenko and Evgeny Solntsev also paid attention to the reception campaign and the development of education.

“In Russia, the admissions campaign has started. The university of the Orenburg region has been allocated 4.2 thousand budget places – the most for the fields of education and pedagogy, agriculture, medicine, IT, and mechanical engineering. In secondary vocational education, there are even more opportunities: the number of budget places is almost 2.5 times larger than in universities – more than 10 thousand. And most importantly, 17 clusters of the federal project “Professionalism” of the national project “Youth and Children” operate here in the most in-demand areas for the region,” announced the Vice Premier.

The head of Orenburg presented the concept of the future interuniversity campus, the construction of which is planned in the regional center. The regional government has submitted an application to participate in the selection of the fourth wave.

Evgeniy Solntsev also reported that thanks to the support of the federal center, the education system infrastructure has been significantly modernized. Over 6 years, 31 kindergartens and 16 new schools have been put into operation, more than 50% of the region’s educational institutions have received new teaching equipment. Major repairs were carried out in 153 school buildings.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the high-quality work of the region in the field of sports: “Orenburg Oblast shows a high level of provision of sports infrastructure – 70.2%. It exceeds the national average. By the results of 2025, the levels of satisfaction with conditions for sports activities and citizens systematically engaged in physical culture are at the same level – 60.8%. I also separately note the development of regional federations in innovative sports. There are four of them in Orenburg,” said the vice-premier.

He also instructed the Ministry of Transport, together with the regional government, to work out and submit an application for the creation of a ski roller trail and a fidget camp for 250 people.
