In May, in 47 out of 85 regions, prices on average increased more weakly than in April, or decreased. In the remaining regions, prices mostly rose moderately.
Prices of products decreased in 76 regions. Prices for vegetables and fruits fell faster than the seasonal norm. Eggs and butter continued to become cheaper. Non-food products, except for gasoline, increased in price at a moderate pace, while many became cheaper.
The growth in prices for services, as well as demand for them, remains high. This is especially evident for domestic and medical services, as well as on the eve of vacations—for the cost of vouchers to sanatoriums and train tickets.
Annual inflation in May slowed down in most regions. The Bank of Russia will continue to conduct a monetary policy aimed at reducing inflation to 4%.
