Harbin, June 23 /Xin Hua/ — Last Sunday in the city of Harbin, the administrative center of Heilongjiang Province /Northeast China/, a graduation ceremony was held for the first 134 bachelor’s degree graduates of the China-Russia Joint Campus of Harbin Polytechnic University /HPU/.

Being one of the important projects within the framework of the Cross Years of Education between China and Russia, the Chinese-Russian joint campus of SPbU was created by the combined efforts of SPbU and Saint Petersburg State University (SPbGU). At the event, 134 graduates, jointly prepared by Chinese and Russian universities, were awarded the academic degree of SPbGU.

Let us recall that in 2019 HSE and SPbGU signed a memorandum on the joint construction of a China-Russia joint campus. In 2022, the enrollment of applicants began for three joint bachelor’s programs in mathematics, applied physics, and chemistry, which marked the transition of the joint campus to the stage of substantial development.

According to the deputy head of the international cooperation department of XPU in Uzyan, at the end of 2025, the creation of the joint XPU-SPBGU institute was officially approved, within the framework of which, in addition to the three above-mentioned bachelor’s programs, a bachelor’s specialization in biotechnology and a master’s specialization in mathematics, physics, and chemistry was opened.

In addition, in May of this year, two universities officially signed an agreement on the joint implementation of a project for the China-Russia Institute of Outstanding Engineers, as well as a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in commercial science, which opened a new direction for further joint training of specialists, joint development of the teaching contingent, and international student exchanges.

In the future, cooperation between Chinese and Russian universities will also be expanded to continuous training of master’s and doctoral students in such advanced fields as architecture, energy, and artificial intelligence, added Wu Qizhan.

The Secretary of the Party Committee of HPU, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Chen Cze noted that HPU, taking advantage of the development opportunities opened up by the cross Years of Education of China and Russia and relying on the existing cooperation platform, will continue to optimize the training model of specialists, deepen the joint development of academic disciplines and exchange visits between teachers, as well as actively expand the space for scientific research cooperation and international exchanges in order to create a demonstration model for Sino-Russian cooperation in the field of higher education andAssistance to the further development of humanitarian exchanges and cooperation in the field of scientific, technical, and innovation collaboration between the two countries.-0-
